<br />The mining will leave no highwalls on the property. No acid forming or toxic materials aze used <br />in the mining. There will be no auger holes, adits, or shafts lefr on the property. The operator <br />will utilize concurrent mining in this operation. <br />Backfill generated on the site will include concrete, silts and clays from the materials washing <br />operation and non-mazketable fine material. These backfill materials will be compacted on the <br />floor of the processing azea and buried along the Lakeshore. <br />Inert fill generated off the permit azea will also be brought onto the site as backfill. This material <br />could include concrete, soil, brick, and limited amounts of asphalt. Generally any asphalt <br />brought in will be recycled into new product. These off-site inert materials will be disposed of in <br />a similar manner as those generated on-site as described above. Since this material is inert, there <br />will be no release of pollutants. This reclamation plan identifies off-site material to be used as <br />backfill. Therefore, no further notice to [he Division is required. <br />Water -General Requirements <br />Disturbance of the azea will be done to minimize the effect on the prevailing hydrologic balance <br />as follows: <br />a. The operator shall comply with all applicable Colorado water laws. <br />b. The operator shall comply with all applicable federal and State water quality laws and <br />regulations. <br />c. The operator shall comply with all federal and State requirements for dredge and fill. <br />d. The operator shall regrade all sediment in siltation structures after mining is completed <br />Groundwater -Specific Requirements <br />The operation will not affect groundwater quality on or off the site. The operation will comply <br />with all State groundwater quality standazds. The Maryland Creek Ranch will be operated <br />similaz to the applicant's Silverthome Pit where there have been no water quality violations or <br />problems. <br />In the wash plant, water will be recycled to settling ponds. In addition, a clarifier with floculants <br />will be utilized to assist in the settling out of suspended solids. Floculants aze not a hazardous or <br />toxic material. The water recycled in the washing operation will not be released into any <br />waterways. The clays and silts salvaged from the washing operation will be used as fill material. <br />All chemicals and materials used in the concrete and asphalt plants will be stored and handled <br />properly according to sepazate permits with the Colorado Department of Health. <br />E-2 <br />
