produced 235,000 tons of coal. From 1973 until 1977 the mine was <br />• operated by the Roadside Mine Joint Venture, and produced some <br />225,000 tons of coal. GEX Colorado Inc. began operating the mine in <br />1977, and operated the mine until December 31, 1981. Powderhorn <br />Coal Company and associated companies purchased the property on <br />December 31, 1981 and have been the ownerloperator since then. All <br />mining has occurred in the Cameo B Seam using room and pillar <br />techniques. <br />Construction of the Roadside North Portals began in 1977 under the <br />name Cameo No. 1 Mine, with actual coal mining beginning in <br />September, 1979. Approximately 600,000 tons of coal had been <br />produced prior to the mine being idled in 1982. All mining has occurred <br />in the Cameo B Seam using room and pillar techniques. Tables 3-7 and <br />3-8 show affected areas and disturbance associated with both mines. <br /> <br />(4) The permit area and adjacent areas are classified by the Mesa County <br />Zoning Resolutions as an "Agricultural and Forestry Transitional Zoning <br />District".
