Discharge
structures will be designed according to standard engineering design procedures.
Transoonation Facilities
Haulage Roads. The following describes the design and construction of the existing haul roads at the Yoast
Mine. The locations of existing haul roads are shown on Exhibits 12-1, Operations Plan, and 13-1, Facilities
Map. Geotechnical and geological investigations were completed for these roads and can be found in
Attachments 13-5, Geotechnicat investigation Haul Roads Y-A and Y-B, and Pond 010, and 13-6,
Geological Report for Haul Roads A and B. Proposed haulroads will be constructed using the
recommendations included in these reports
General Requirements. SCC will construct, maintain and reclaim haul roads to minimize erosion and
siltation, air and water pollution and damage to public and private property. To the eMent possible, using
the best technology currently available, haul roads will not cause damage to fish, wildlife, or related
environmental values and will not cause additional contributions of suspended solids to streamflow or to
runoff outside the permit area. Any such contribution shalt not be in excess of limitations of Stale or
Federal law.
Location. Approximately 5.1 miles of haulage road currently exist within the Yoast Mine permit boundary.
The northernmost section (three miles in length) is designated as Yoast Road 'A'. The southernmost
section (1.1 miles) is designated as Yoast Road 'B". A third section (1.0 miles) is designated as Haul Road
D and will be utilized as an "ouY' road from the south mining area at Yoast. As-built construction summaries
for Haul Roads A, B and D are contained in Attachment 13-11. As-Built drawings for Haul Roads A, B and
D are depicted on Exhibits 13-10.1 to 13-10.6 to 13-11.1 to 13-11.2, and 13-16 respectively. The
topography and vegetation conditions of the site vary considerably, but can be divided into two general
areas. The
TR-24
11
Revised 2/04
