In addition to the application and reference
material I want to make you aware of several factors your office may be
confused on.
1. The legal description for our operations area is:
SEA of the SFi4 of Section 3 T-35N, R-7W
2. Our gravel operation is limited to an existing gravel pit
once mined by The State of Colorado, under a lease with Mr.
Bebee. This pit is located west of the Wommer Irrigation
Ditch and used as an effluent percolation pond for our
subdivisions sewage treatment.
It is the last pond in a chain of percolation ponds and
allows discharge of clean water into the Pine River. The
level of this pond is controlled according to our inflow
rate and releases are limited primarily to summer time.
The Forest Lakes Metropolitan District, which provides
central sewer and treatment for Forest Lakes, has determined
that this pond needs to be increased in size according to the
map marked Exhibit B.
The old gravel pit located east of Wommer Ditch is being
converted into a full time percolation pond, and gravel
crushing has been discontinued there, for some time. There
remains a stockpile of material which was crushed from the
lower pit referenced above.
The old pit, which is not being mined, does have a number of
burned stumps near the edge of the pit, but not in it. This
was apparently a contention from your inspector during a recent
visit.
1005 West Southern Avenue / Mesa, Arizona 85202 / Telephone (602) 969-8000
