• in backfill well GF7 is due to mining affects from more water moving through this backfill aquifer.
The decline in well GP6 has to be natural because the QR aquifer has not been mined near this well.
The major constituent increases in well GC2 have to be natural due to its location. Sulfate
concentrations in wells GAl, GCI, GC3, GD2, GD3, GEI, GE2, GF3, GFI 1, GP4 and PS have been
increasing with time. Increases in wells GCl and GC3 have to be natural due to their locations. A
major portion of the increase in well PS occurred prior to mining in this area. Sulfate increases in
wells GD3 and GF11 are very likely due to mining while the remainder of the increases could be
from natural variation, mining or a combination of both.
The minor constituent variations have been erratic. No changes in these constituents are
thought to be attributed to mining. Higher radium 226 concentrations have also been sparse and the
variation in radium 226 concentrations are thought to be natural.
•
6.2 SURFACE WATER
The average flows for the surface water sites at Trapper Mine were down in 1994
compared to average flows observed in 1993. Qverall precipitation also decreased in 1994. No
failures or monitoring site problems were encountered during 1994. The compliance limits were
not exceeded in 1994.
Total suspended solids (TSS) were generally low as was the flow rate during 1994 when
compared to 1993 and values in 1994 were within their expected range for their flow rates. Total
dissolved solids (TDS) were generally in an indirect relationship with flow rate. The TDS of the
surface water from the mine area is similar to the TDS from the non-mined area and, therefore, an
increase has not been defined The TDS, conductivity and major constituents varied over expected
ranges with an increase in values as ground-water flow to the stream becomes a larger portion of
IG!-~~J
6-5 (Revised 09/21/95)
