Stevens
(adjacent landowner). As noted, Mr. Stevens is concerned about the location, scope, and
adverse impact of the Butcher Pit.
I spoke with Mr. Stevens on December 27, 1995. He said his main concern is that a
ten-foot deep pit will adjoin his property. I explained to Mr. Stevens that mining is
allowed on this land by local zoning laws and if he has a problem with that use he
should attempt to re-zone the area to exclude this type of activity.
I explained to Mr. Stevens that the disturbed area will be reclaimed to rangeland (not a
borrow pit as noted in the published public notice) which will include grading the
highwalls to 3:1 or less and planting several grass species.
If Mr. Stevens decides he wants to change his concern to an objection I will process the
complaint pursuant to the requirements of Rules 1.7 and 1.4.6.
If you have any questions give me a call.
Sincerely,
~, ~~~c ~~
James Dillie
Environmental Protection Specialist
Enclosure
M:\OSSamm\B utcher.jd
