You submitted a well permit application on September 1~L, `~
1990; however, the application was returned to you because a substitute water supply '
plan was required to be approved prior to the issuance of a permit. Correspondence in °~
our file indicates that you subsequently submitted a substitute water supply plan request. ~`
The corcespondence also shows that the plan was very deficient in the submitted
engineering. Our office sent several letters throughout the years requesting additional
information. You responded to many of the letters, but your additional engineering was
also deficient.
You have never obtained a permit to expose ground water and you may not
continue to excavate at the Canyon Sand and Gravel Pit until you obtain a permit from
this office to do so. We require you to submit engineering that is adequate for approval
of a substitute water supply plan by May 15, 2004. We highly recommend that you
obtain the services of a water resources engineer to assist you with this plan. You are
also required to submit a plan for augmentation to the water court three years prior to
completion of mining.
Failure to submit the appropriate engineering by May 15, 2004 may result in
enforcement action by the State and Division Engineers. If you have any questions, you
may call Don West at this office or Ken Beegles, Division 7 Engineer, at (970) 247-1845.
Sincerely,
ick Wolfe, P.E.
Chief of Water Supply
cc: Ken Beegles, Division 7 Engineer
Val Valentine, Water Commissioner
,Bob Oswald, Division of Mining and Geotogy
