The dctention time and surface area on the iNet side of the confinement boom allow the petroleum effluent to <br />be trapped behind the boom, where it may be pumped off'and disposed of. Any remaining petroleum effluent is <br />then removed tluargh two concrete underground oil separator tanks. The clean water is discharged while the <br />collected oil is disposed of. All non~uried tanks will be subject to visual inspection annually. Records of all <br />inspections will be kept on 61e Cor at lean three years. <br />(ex2xiv)All remaining underground storage tanks at Trapper were removed in April L990. <br />(ex3xi) piping systems at the facility are designed and operated in a manner w prevent spills. All undergrourrtl piping <br />is wrapped Cor protection against corrosion. h` far some reason buried lines are exposed, they will be inspected. <br />If this inspection shows corrosion damage, corrective meawres will be take. All above-ground pipes and <br />valves shall be within the earthen dikes in case there is a pipe failure. Theo dikes also prevent vehicular <br />damage to above-ground components. <br />(ex3xii)Terminal connections of pipe which arc cot in service will be capped or vahrod. <br />(ex3xui~ipe supports are designed W ms~sms~~ abrasion and cortosion and allow for contraction and expantion. <br />(ex3xiv)All above-gtrntnd pipes and vahcs will be ia~pected annually. The inspxtion reports will be kept on 51e for a least <br />three years and will include at least three inspxtions. if problem areas arc found, afollow-up inspection will <br />be made after corrective measures are taken. Lspaxions will be performed during the third quarter of each <br />year by a member of We ertgineaing staff: <br />The waste axumuhuion area is inspaxed weekly by the Facility Emergency Coordinator. Inspection results are <br />kept in a bound inspection log book and will be kept on file for throe years. Integrity of the berms, bamJs and <br />tanks will be monitored. <br />(ex9xi) Access to the mine site is controlled at all times. In additioq when the mine is not producing, all gates are <br />locked or guarded. <br />(exlOxi) All foremen and shift supervisors will be trained in this plan at least once a year. The training will include <br />spill preventioq spill reporting prooedunx and the basin of the current SPCC plan. <br />Additionally, foremen and shift supervisors will receive annual training on the control of hazardous waste <br />spills, handling procedures and appropriate emergenry response procedures. <br />Any contractor, subcontractor, or temporary personnel whose work could cause a spill or who could prevent a <br />spill will be informed of facil iry operating procedures and features with which they may become involved <br />4.- t.a.c. <br />
