Lochhcad
Cwttulive DirMw
Miahacl ll Wng
Dwmm~ Dnecror
This letter is to clarify the status of the coal loadout associated with the Coal Ridge Mine.
NCIG has asked the WQCD to terminate the discharge permit for that site.
The loadout which is included in the DMG permit was a previously existing rail spur. The
pond which was proposed as a sedimentation pond was previously existing. NC[G never
hauled coal to the site or used the area as part of any mining operations. The only activity
undertaken by NCIG was construction of an alluvial monitoring well, which has since been
reclaimed. No further mining or reclamation operations will be conducted there.
The loadout area is currently a part of the Coal Ridge permit area in their DMG permit.
However, we have informed the operator that the area can be deleted from the permit area
since no surface related mine disturbance occurred there. The operator has indicated that
a revision to the permit will be submitted soon which will delete all reference to the
loadout. Once that revision is approved, DMG will no longer have any jurisdiction over the
loadout.
Please call me if you have any questions or need additional information.
Sincerely,
Larry P. Routten
Senior Environmental Protection Specialist
cc: Greg Bacon
JJim Stover, J. E. Stover and Associates r:~a'.I,sl~lol~'x,
