,~ _ ~r~n
(B) The capability of an area to be flood
irrigated, based on stream-flow water yield, solid, water
quality topography and regional practices; or
(C) Subirrigation of the lands in question,
derived from the ground water system of the valley floor.
(4) Application contents for operations affecting alluvial
valley floors.
RESPONSE
(1) (2) (3) (9) The Hayden Gulch Mine area cannot be
categorized as an alluvial valley floor. The mine site
is located in an upland area and there are not streams
or running water on the site. Surface water is present
only during brief periods of snowmelt or runoff from
intense periods of rainfall.

Plots of stratigraphic cross sections are illustrated
in Volume 7, Appendix R, Exhibits 7, 8, and 9. It can
be seen from these plots that there are no unconsolidated
streamlain deposits holding steams.
• There are no significant agricultural activities
in the area. The climate of the mine area and surroundina_
vicinity is characteristic of semi-arid steepe regions.
The average precipitation of the mine area is approximately
41 centimeters (16.1 inches).
The mine site is located in the highest portion of
the drainage area. The channel is of high slope with
the channel indegrading (cutting) regime resulting in
no deposition. The general channel geometry is of low
meander pattern with overall immature channel development.
These facts substantiate the fact that the mine area
cannot be categorized as an alluvial valley floor.
a~
