Waterfowl and upland game bird brood production surveys <br />In addition to the above-listed specific census techniques, opportunistic <br />sightings of raptorial birds, game binds, and waterfowl were recorded <br />by species, habitat type, and location on wildlife observation forms during <br />all field activities. - <br />Passerine Birds. Passerine birds Caere censured along transact l.rnes placed <br />within each of the following major vegetation types on the study area: <br />•~, 1. Upland sagebrush <br />2, Grassland pasture <br />3. Riparian <br />4. Alfalfa field <br />5. Juniper <br />Transacts were O.5 lan in length and were cronq~letely contained within the <br />vegetation type ~l Mg sailed (Map 11-1, Appendix A) (see Results, page 31). <br />For the breeding bird census, a qualified observer paced each transact and <br />stopped every SOm to record all birds seen or heard during a five-minute interval <br />within 25rz•of the stop. The numbers of all birds seen or heard (including non- <br />passerines) were recorded by species and habitat type. Breeding birds vrre <br />censured on clear, calm, warm morning in June, 1979.
