The Division of Minerals and Geology ("Division") is under the same time constraints stated in the
December 2, 2005 Second Adequacy Comment letter, therefore your response to the following adequacy review
concern should be submitted to the Division as soon as possible.
Rule 6.4.7 Exhibit G -Water Information
Rule 6.4.7 (3) & (4) require the applicant to provide an estimate of the project water requirements including flow
rates and annual volumes for the development, mining and reclamation phases of the project, and to indicate the
projected amount from each source of water to supply the project water requirements for the mining operation and
reclamation. In the first adequacy review response, the applicant states that the operator will utilize the
commercial well at the site £or water necessary for dust mitigation and aggregate processing at the site. The
response states that the well is approved for 7 acre-feet per year at a rate not to exceed 15 GPM. The original
application materials state that the mining operation and dust control will require a flow rate of 1,100 GPH, or a
total of 3.3 million gallons of water per yeaz. The current well will provide only 900 GPH and a total of 2.28
million gallons of water per year. Additionally, the information submitted with the original application indicates
a need for 1.5 to 4 million gallons of water per year for reclamation. Please account for the discrepancy between
the original water amounts anticipated for the operation and the amount supplied by the operator's resources.
Please be aware that response to this issue falls under the same deadline as those contained in the second
adequacy review letter.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call me at (970) 259-5861.
Sincerely,
i~ ~'"` G `
Kate Pickford
Environmental Protection Specialist
RECEiVE®
DEC 0.8 20~
Gisision of Minerals aa6 GeoloQt
cc: Harry Posey; DMG
Office of Office of Colorado
Mined land Reclamation Active and Inactive Mines Geological Survey
