A decline is
presently being worked adjacent to the pit site, permitted under limited
impact.
~ The project will encompass a time span of approximately I30 months in-
volving about 650 acres of aiFfeeted land in the southern portion of the
Paradox Valley in Montrose County, Colorado, Sections 8, 9, 16, 17, and
I
~~ 2'7 of Township 46 North, Range 17 West of the New Mexico Principle
Medidian.
I
Ore horizons averaging six feet in thickness at depths of 50 to 360 feet
are present in a disseminated manner as a result of extensive faulting.
Vegetation removal and topsoiling will preceed overburden relocation, the
material overlying the first phase ore block and part of the second will
be deposited with the overburden adjacent to the pit. Subsequent overbur-
den will be backfilled in the first panel area. Test plots on topsoil~d
overburden slopes will be established at the completion of the first
year in order to provide reclamation planning information.
Historically the Uravan Mineral Belt has been producing uranium from
~ ~ underground workings most of this century yielding road and power access.
