Broadcast seeding will be done with either a tractor mounted seeder or
a whirly-bird hand seeder. The seed will then be lightly covered with
soil either by using a spring toothed harrow or by hand rake. A hay
mulch will be applied on the rangeland areas at a rate of 1-2 tons per
acre. It will be dispersed and then crimped with a disc on the approx-
imately 450 acres with 4:1 slopes. The remaining 50 or so acres of 2:1
slopes will be hydro mulched with wood fiber at 1200-1800 pounds per
acre after hydro seeding.
The preferred seeding time will be fall. Spring planting will be used
only if fall planting is not possible.
• The various seedlings to be used will be planted in the fall so that
the plants become established before winter begins. These seedlings
will range in size from 10 inches to 4 feet.
The soil will be tested prior to seeding to determine if fertilizers or
other soil amendments will be necessary to insure plant growth.
•
E-10
