D.5 Operation Timetable
• D. 5.1 Project Phases
Using the mine maps, Figures D.5-1 to D.5-11, in conjunction with Table
D-4, the areal extent and time schedule can be determined. Two phases
are involved with a transition between phase one and two occurring about
seven months into year four. (See Exhibit E.5, reclamation timetable
discussion.)
D.5.2 Mining & Reclamation Sequence
Year 1
Removal of vegetation and topsoil will preceed waste dump establishment
in the valley area. Figure D.5-2 depicts the dump and pit configurations
at the end of the first year. A topsoil storage area will be established
and seeded for erosion control. Within the first year the road to JD-
• 7 underground facility will be relocated and the support buildings
constructed. Only overburden will have been removed from the pit at
this time.
Reclamation test plots will be initiated in the fall, located on the
western portion of the overburden and the topsoil stockpile. These test
plot areas will be topsoil-capped overburden and pit benches. The
establishment of general experimental parameters and the logistics of
the reclamation process will be first year objectives.
Year 2
The spoil area has expanded after vegetation removal and topsoiling as
per Table E.5-1 and the second year mine map (Figure D.5-3). Some ore
bearing zones may be encountered with pit expansion but the primary
activity will still be overburden removal.
D-4
