Pit water management plan. Other than when active mining is taking place, the pit is
allowed to contain water.
As an additional response to this question, Lafarge has provided photographs (see below) of the
existing dewatering system and return basins in use at our Mamm Creek pit adjacent to this
property and on the south bank of the river. We currently envisage using the exact same type of
system. In addition, we have also attached a cross section of the planned system.
4. Maps with100-yeaz flood plan
Lafarge is fully aware that prior to any commencement of mining an approved watershed permit
and CORP of engineers permit will need to be obtained. Both of these permits are underway.
Attached to the back of this letter is a PDF map of the FEMA flood plain for the area of the
proposed operation with the property drafted to scale on the map. This will provide an initial
indication of the fact that the planned pits are outside the flood plain. As detailed proof, Lafarge
would be pleased to:
a) provide copies of these permits to the DMG when they are issued,
b) if required, complete a TR should any significant changes be requested by the
approving agencies, and
c) accept a stipulation in the DMG permit acknowledging the above-mentioned items.
EXHIBIT C contains topography that was flown in the late summer of 2004. All of the
topographic contours were created from this work and therefore, already answer a number of
your questions. We believe that the only features you requested and are not shown are the:
Ordinary and High water marks -part of Watershed permit
Colorado River Channel Invert -part of Watershed permit
Plans for the Conveyor System
A structural engineer is currently preparing the detailed design drawings to the conveyor system
that crosses the river. These are a required part of the Watershed permit. Lafarge would be
pleased to:
a) provide copies of these permits to the DMG when they are issued,
b) if required, complete a TR should any significant changes be requested by the
approving agencies, and
c) accept a stipulation in the DMG permit acknowledging the above-mentioned items.
Currently, EXHIBIT L has assigned a cost of $30,000 for the removal of the conveyor system.
Once the detailed engineering drawings are completed, Lafarge would be please to revisit this
cost, and if necessary, amend the reclamation bond amount by any changes.
