In one instance same topsoil
and "overburden" was mixed (SW 1/4 NW 1/4 Section
25). In order for the reclamation of this area to
be successful, this mixed material may be dry
screened and used as a plant-growth medium for re-
claiming this appro>:imate 1,5 acre area. The top-
soil from the colluvial land is only about 6 inches
deep. The overburden, when screened would supply
about another 2-4 inches which is felt to be better-
for reclamation purposes than only 4 to b inches of
salvageable plant-growth medium. The 2 to 4 inches
obtained by screening overburden material would be
placed first and then the 4 to 6 inches ^f topsoil
would be placed over it. There is a possibility
that the material that was inadvertently mixed (top-
soil mired with overburden) is more than adequate to
sustain the proposed seed mix and would only be
graded instead of screened. The initial attempt
would be to regrade this area and then seed it with
the propased'seed mix.
I"11_Fi'D - l:n f:hi, rt=:'r..l,;imation plan, the uFrer-atn~ siat.es, "Hs
thr:.r npr=rati.on tn~ogresse~, from ~.~rez: to area, loa.d~:~rs
and scr-~ap~~r-~s ~•~i 1 ]. remove L-he ] ~-?4 :ir.cl-ues of col 1u-
vi al i:opsai a and r.:ubsoi. l ~ Th:i s me.tr-_~ri al wi l l bra
stored ~~tbove the t.-{carry ._:lor'tg w9th they nvmrhiarden
(E::It:ibit. In
the topsoil removal process, rocl; overburden will
be removed along with the topsoil though not inten-
tionally, therefore any screening would provide a
better plant-growth medium.
4
