Long <br />D rvuion Director <br />TO: Dan Hernandez, Senior Environmental Protection Specialist <br />FROM: Kirstin Fisher, Youth in Natural Resources Student <br />RE: 1995 Annual Hydrology Report Review, Kaiser Resources Inc., <br />The Chimney Rock Coal Mine, Permit No. C-81-023. <br />I have concluded my review of the Kaiser Inc.'s 1995 Annual <br />Hydrology Report for the Chimney Rock Coal Mine. I reviewed the <br />AHR against Kaiser's Mining and Reclamation permit application <br />document focusing specifically on sections, exhibit 10, 2.04-15 <br />(Table 5a Hydrologic Monitoring), 2.04.7 (1) and (2) (Surface Water <br />and Ground Water Information, and The Chimney Rock 1995 Midterm <br />Report.. The baseline data for the Chimney Rock Coal Mine could not <br />be found in the permit, therefore the data from 1985 will have to <br />serve as the comparison. Data from 1985 was found in the AHR for <br />1995. <br />A. The following is a listing of the monitoring stations and the <br />monitoring as described in the Chimney Rock Coal Mine permit. <br />(1) Surface Water Monitoring Stations. <br />(a) S-1 Surface water station located on Stollsteimer <br />Creek 1/4 of a mile above the mine facilities. <br />The station was selected to assess conditions <br />of the stream quality above mining facilities. <br />(b) S-2 Surface water station located on Stollsteimer <br />Creek located below the surface facilities and <br />mining activities conducted on the Barren Ridge <br />area and above the inlet of the sedimentation <br />ponds which control site runoff from Revision <br />Area No. 1.
