Review Checklist for Discharge Monitoring Report (DMR)
Requirement
Requirement
Requirement citation complied with ? Comment ~I
es/no
The suspended solids and settleable
solids limitations were exceeded during
the one week of discharge from outfall
003A. Total suspended solids were 660
mg/I versus the limitation of 70 mg/1
daily maximum. Settleable solids were
0.8 ml/I versus the limitation of 0.5 ml/I.
The mine operator's cover letter cites
sediment from snow removal in the
flume area as the suspected cause of the
exceedance. The operator has verbally
3. Compliance reported there were no exceedances the
with Federal and following month. DMG's inspection in
State water quality CDMG regulation See comment March found outfall 003A discharging
laws that pertain to 4.05.1(3) clear water and no evidence of sediment
discharges of accumulation from the January
surface water exceedance. Although this isolated
incident did not appear to cause
significant environmental impact, the
need for taking care when removing
snow from flumes was discussed with
the operator during the March inspection.
Carla Lenkey of CWQCD was consulted
by phone on 3/23/04. Although she had
not yet reviewed the DMR, due to the
nature of the exceedances she did not
anticipate enforcement action from
CWQCD.
cc: Dan Hernandez, CDMG
