Ms. Connie Davis/Aggregate Industries - F Street July 2002 QMR/Closure Request
Project Number 1001018 P/~Rl1G~N
September 20, 2002
Page 6
4. BTEX and TEPH concentrations were not observed above the laboratory detection limits
in the groundwater samples collected from wells MW-1 through MW-5 and EW-1 on
July 29, 2002.
5. BTEX concentrations observed in the groundwater samples collected from the site during
July 2002 did not exceed the MCLs. The July 2002 sampling episode was the fifrh event
in which BTEX concentrations observed in groundwater samples collected from the site
did not exceed the MCLs.
The following recommendations are made based on information obtained during the
quarterly sampling activities.
1. It is our opinion that additional monitoring, assessment or abatement is not warranted at
the site at this time and site closure should be granted by the Colorado Division of
Minerals and Geology for the 2001 diesel-fuel release.
2. Impacted soils which may be encountered during future mining activities in the spill area
should be handled appropriately.
5. GENERAL COMMENTS
The analyses and opinions expressed in this report are based on data obtained from the
groundwater monitoring wells installed at the indicated locations along with other
information described in this report. This report does not reflect any variations in
subsurface geohydrology or contaminant distribution which may occur between wells and or
across the site. Actual subsurface conditions may vary and may not become evident without
further exploration. Due to the dynamic nature of groundwater flow and contaminant
migration, subsurface conditions will vary with time.
This report was prepared for the exclusive use of Aggregate Industries for specific
application to the subject property and has been prepared in accordance with generally
accepted geo-environrnental engineering practices. No warranties, either express or implied,
are intended or made. In the event that changes in the nature or location of suspected
sources of contamination as outlined in this report are observed, the conclusions and
recommendations contained in this report shall not be valid unless these changes are
reviewed and the opinions of this report are modified and verified in writing by Pazagon.
