• 2.05.3(2)
Development and Mining Description
The main entries proceed from the surface slightly up-dip in a
southerly direction. Panel development areas extend both westerly
and easterly from the mains in both the C-Seam and in the B-Seam as
shown on the Mine Plan Maps (Map 9) and (Map 9A). The mine entries
are the main access for men and equipment into the operation,
provide for ventilation intake and exhaust, and provide for
conveyor haulage of the coal out of the mine.
Because the mining system is a continuous room and pillar plan,
sets of rooms will be driven at 90 degrees from the main entries.
Each set of room entries or panels will be separated from the
adjacent panels and the main entries by a barrier of coal as shown
on the Mine Plan Maps (Map 9) and (Map 9A). These pillars will be
left between each panel and the main entries but may be recovered
later upon retreat from the mine.
In order to visualize the overall room and pillar method of mining,
• a diagram showing the room dimensions is found on the B-Seam Mine
Plan Map (Map 9A).
The anticipated annual and total production of coal from the Bear
No. 3 Mine is shown in Table 8, Actual and Projected Coal
Production.
In order to insure the maximum recovery of coal and to avoid
problems with any future mining from the other seams found in the
lease, the Operator will adhere to the following guidelines during
mining operations:
1. Coal is mined in accordance with the most appropriate
engineering technology available to assure no disturbance
between the seams;
2. Protective barrier pillars for all main and submain
entries are superimposed whenever possible, regardless of
the vertical separation or rock competency;
r ~
U
2.05-3
Rev. 11-30-93
