Mark N. Steen
Gold Hill Mining Company
P.U. Box 1523
Longmont, Colorado SU5U1

Re: Cash Cline - File No. 83-141
Uear Mr. Steen:
I have reviewed this application for adequacy and have arrived at the
following questions and comments which must be addressed in detail at
least 5 days prior to the August 24-25, 1983 meeting of the Mined land
Recla~uation board:
A. Exhibit B - Mining Plan
1. All lands to be affected by this mining operation must be included
within the permit boundary. Therefore, please amend portions of this o,~
application to include all siynificant new roadwork including road
reclamation. Existiny roads and road maintenance of existing roads need
not be included within the permit.
B. Exhibit E - Reclamation Plan
1. In addition to planting trees and shrubs on the field test site,
the staff requests that the operator consider planting various acid
tolerant native grasses to evaluate their performance. The staff is
williny to assist the operator in suggesting certain yross species which
may prove valuable in acid dump re vegetation.
2. The staff recommends that the operator not use any buried culvert
as part of the final reclamation plan as a buried culvert is prone to v'~
plugging and would require periodic maintenance. All surface runoff
should be routed t~iruugh open, reconstructed drainage channels.
3. The Mined Lal1d Reclamation Board emphasized the use of plant
species native to the region. Please provide a yross seed mix for non
mine dump areas which contains primarily native species common to the
area. The suggested grass seed mix for road disturbance is composed of
introduced species and does not meet with performance standards of our
law.
423 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver.
