Ballard MAY 251990 <br />Tuttle Applegate, Inc. <br />11990 Grant Street, Suite 410 <br />Denver, CO 80233 <br />RE: information for gravel mining request on land owned <br />by Mr. Edward Perry <br />Dear Mr. Ballard: <br />The following is information you requested on land in Weld County, <br />Colorado, in part of Section 25, Township 1 North, Range 67 West, and <br />Section 30, Township 1 North, Range 66 West. <br />SOILS INFORMATION: Soils for the area requested, according to the <br />Soil Survey of Weld County, Colorado, Southern Part, are mapped as <3) <br />Aquolls and Aquents, gravelly substratum. This covers most of the <br />area. One very small area east of the Platte River is mapped as (10> <br />Bankard Sandy Loam, 0 to 3 percent slopes. Another small area near <br />Wattenberg on the west side of the property is mapped as (1> Altvan <br />loam, 0 to 1 percent slopes. For more information please refer to <br />Sheet $30 of the Soil Survey of Weld County, Colorado, Southern Part. <br />A copy of the detailed soil description is attached. For more infor- <br />mation on soils see the soil survey. A copy can be obtained from this <br />office. <br />VEGETATIVE INFORMATION: It appears that this area has been overgrazed <br />for some time since very few native plants exist on the property. The <br />property is presently being grazed by cattle. Grasses, grasslike <br />plants, forbs and a few trees can be seen on the property. Grasses <br />inventoried consisted of mostly Saltgrass, Cheatgrass, and Western <br />Wheatgrass. There were smaller amounts of Bluegrass, Quackgrass, <br />Intermediate Wheatgrass and Smooth Bromegrass. Grasslike plants con- <br />sisted of sedges, rushes and cattails. <br />Most of the vegetation, at the time of the inventory consisted of <br />forbs. These broadleaf plants consisted mostly of Musk Thistle, <br />Canada Thistle, Murdock and Whitetop with lesser amounts of Bull <br />Thistle, Pepper Weed, Dandelion, Bindweed, Mustard, Lambs Quarter, <br />Purple Top, Licorice and Clover. <br />There were a few trees on the property. They were Cottonwoods, Willow <br />and Chinese Elm. <br />On the land area in the SE 1/4, NE 1/4, Section 25, Township 1 North, <br />Range 67 West. Vegetation consists of mostly cattails, sedges, rushes <br />and other wetland vegetation. <br />Before this land is disturbed, you should contact the Colorado Divi- <br />sion of Wildlife, U.S. Fish and Wildlife and Corps of Army Engineers <br />for their wetland determination. <br />
