change. Concurrent reopening of the vein structures was necessaryr for continued
deposition of the ores. and the points of recurrent opening determine the
distribution of ore. Base metal sulfides are each more widespread and conslsterrt 1n
their distribution than are high-grade gold ores. However. gold does ocar in
oreshoots within veins. and where recognizable. the shoots show both steep and
shallow rakes to the southwest. This is probably in part the result of geocheadcal
factors favoring the deposition of ore, especially gold ores in the upper portions of
the veins. but it 1s also likely that changes in wallrock lithology.have had moth to
do with the initial rorphology of the vein structures and subsequent changes due to
reopening of the veins.
., , , \ .~~
.~ ~~~~~ ~
,~ ,,
~~ •~ ~ ~
\ ~ surw
NOlr[HWESi ~ • \ - \ \ ~ \\ \ 90Uf11EAST
~~
~~.
,~
~\~ .
\~~
GeNa:AUZeo c;Ea.Awc
caoss-sECrioH
SUNNYSIDE MNNE
0 4~)0
uau ^ ra[r
S
Figure 3 illustrates important changes in vein persistence and attitude along dip.
Both the 2150 and Little nary veins dieout updip as the Burns-Henson contact is
approached and interbedded volcanic breccla and tuff becooe notlcea.ble within the
flows of the upper Burns. There is also a decided change in dip, with the 2150 Vein
actually rolling over. Rich gold ore, though very erratic in detail. has generally
been confined to the axis of the roll which pitches southwest at aipproximately 10
degrees (figure 4). Gold ore along the Little Nary Vein (figure 5) also occurs 1n
gently southwest raking shoots, although unaccoryanied by aqy abrupt changes 1n
strike ar dip.
6d
~+
