•
PETITION TO PROTEST SPECIAL-USE PERNIIT FROM PUEBLO
COUNTY
We, the undersigned, strongly protest any mining in the area of Pueblo County commonly referred to as
Peck's Canyon and owned by Douglas and Kelly Park. We request that Pueblo County deny the request
by Siloam Stone for the special use permit they have requested in order to allow this azea to be mined for
landscape rock materials. Peck's Canyon is a beautiful and unique place on earth. The mining activity
proposed by Siloam Stone could destroy the beauty of this area, with no chance for reclamation to its
original state. The spring-fed deep-rock pools are full year-round. They provide the watering hole for
area wildlife. Because this azea is a natural wetland, it is home to a plethora of plant and wildlife species
not seen elsewhere in the azea. The canyon is also known state-wide by rock climbers. Mining this
canyon would be tragic, and may destroy one of the most beautiful and unique places in Pueblo County.
Again, by signing this petition, we protest any mining activity in this area, and strongly urge that the
special use permit mentioned above be denied.
Printed Name Sigttature Address
?'1 G w v` rt' ~ S ~ '
~ ~~" ~' ~ ~ a ~ /
Sco-~-~ iC.
