Below aze items to address the technical review of 28 May 2003 affecting Glacier Peak Mining, Permit
Application M-2003-030.
I5. 6.3.4 E7O-IIBIT D -RECLAMATION PLAN
6.3.4 (1 }_ (aZOverburden replacement
Revise estimate of reclaimed azea upwazds to include reclamation of previously disturbed areas.
Reclamation will reclaim approximately 1/5 of an acre (9,000 sq') of disturbed azea each season. This
includes the footprint for equipment being used, areas where topsoil was stored, prospects, previously
disturbed areas surrounding excavation sites, and the actual excavation. Actual excavations are about
3,000 sq' per yeaz.
Planned equipment for reclamation will primarily consist of the same equipment used during the actual
excavation. The majority of work will be accomplished with amedium-size excavator such as a 3'70 C
John Deer. Its design allows it to bring overburden, including rock, back up hill easily without a great
deal of moving the equipment around. Atrack-loader with blade such as a 555 John Deer will be used
to do final contouring and smoothing of the excavation and surrounding disturbed azeas. The
excavator will then be brought back in to redistribute topsoil from the storage pile over the re-
contoured surface. The loader will then be used to redistribute the topsoil and rake the area At this
time, it will be reseeded and re-raked with the loader blade. We will hand rake as necessary to cover
seed.
If necessary we will re-grade an area or use a spike screen to prepaze the soil for reseeding if the soil
has become compacted, We can drag a spike screen with the same back hoe or an ATV or, if
necessary, hand rake the azea CGist° .SdO
The loader will be brought on site only during the actual reclamation, usually a single day. Otherwise,
other equipment on site will be the excavator or a back hoe which will be on site during the entire
excavation.
Our original proposal indicated a time line through 2018 with final reclamation completed on Qui-Buc
No. 2 that yeaz. Total disturbance over the 15 yeazs was projected to be slightly under 3 acres. This
included equipment footprints, storage azeas, some reclamation of currently disturbed azeas, and
prospecting. On average, we would disturb or reclaim previously disturbed areas at a rate of 1/5 of an
acre per yeaz. After the first yeaz, each site is reclaimed until at the end of 2018, we would have
reclaimed and reseeded our final pazcel. As a result of removing Qui-Buc No. 2 this would reduce the
total disturbed area by 2/5 of an acre. Total disturbed and reclaimed areas for this pernut would now
be 2.6 acres. I would leave it at 3 acres. I would plan on reclaiming additional disturbed azeas neaz
our proposed excavation sites, particularly on the Smoky Hawk where most of 3 acres is currently
disturbed.
Based on this, bond estimation should be for i/5 of an acre during any one year.
