In addition, they will be fitted with caps to prevent <br />introduction of foreign objects, other than monitoring and sampling <br />equipment, into the well. When groundwater monitoring wells are no <br />longer needed or required for any purpose, each well will be sealed <br />in accordance with the measures described above. <br />Removal of Surface Structures <br />Embankment and Impoundments. All embankments and impoundments will <br />be completely removed and reclaimed after the termination of mining <br />activities. The sedimentation pond will not be removed until the <br />affected area serviced by the pond has been restored, vegetation <br />requirements met, the quality of the drainage entering the pond <br />meets applicable Federal and State water quality requirements and <br />the removal of the pond is authorized by the Division. Upon <br />removal of the sediment pond and diversion ditches, the affected <br />land will be regraded and revegetated in a manner similar to the <br />proposed revegetation plan described below. <br />. Mine Facilities. At the completion of mining operations, the <br />portal complexes, shop warehouse complex, the coal handling plant, <br />and other related surface facilities will be removed. The office <br />will not be removed. The sites will then be graded, topsoiled and <br />revegetated in accordance with the procedures set forth in this <br />section, providing that there are not continuing beneficial uses <br />for these structures. <br />At the conclusion of mining, all salvageable mining equipment will <br />be sold as used equipment or sold to a local scrap dealer. No <br />mining machinery will be merely abandoned by the Operator. <br />The portal facilities will be completely removed at the conclusion <br />of mining. The conveyors used to transport the coal from the mine <br />portals to the loadout area will be salvaged; the conveyor <br />structure supports will be removed and the right-of-ways will be <br />• 2.05-31 Rev. 02-10-93 <br />
