Subsidence Monitoring
~ Bear performed extensive subsidence monitoring at the Bear No. 3 Mine. This
monitoring is documented in Exhibit 22. In general, the elevation of the subsidence
monitoring stations has constantly decreased. BCC generally followed the
convention that subsidence monitoring could be discontinued two years after retreat
mining. Subsidence monitoring requirements for the last two years of mining (1995
& 1996) was limited to visual monitoring as outlined on page 2.05-63e.
Slope Stability Monitoring
Bear performed extensive slope stability monitoring which was required by
Stipulation No. 21. This monitoring is documented in Exhibits 21 & 22. The last
monitoring performed was in 1996. The extensive slide activity that occurred in
June 1997 made further slope stability monitoring futile.
2.05 -iii 1/03
/~ 2-as
(fin,-ov)
/~ PPR ov~,4 ! t~i v~o3
