• 2.05.3(3)
Coal Loadout Facilities
The coal loadout facilities for the Bear No. 3 Portals will
included the following: conveyors, a coal storage area and a truck
loadout facility. The coal loadout facility will be located as
shown on the Mine Facilities Map (Map 10).
Coal will be transported from the underground mining operations by
a 36-inch wide conveyor belt. The coal will be transported to an
outside conveyor. The outside conveyor will take the coal from the
portal to a stacking tube and a coal storage site. The coal is
either reclaimed and conveyed to the truck loadout bin or allowed
to flow into the coal storage area. Two (2) separate vibrating
feeders will be used to reclaim the coal to the truck loadout bin.
Once in the truck loadout bin, the coal is fed by gravity directly
into trucks which will pass under the structure.
The truck loadout consists of feeders, a conveyor belt, and a truck
loadout bin. This truck loadout system reduces the amount of
costly front end loader time required to load the coal haulage
trucks.
Drainage from the coal loadout facility will pass through the
sedimentation pond as shown on the Mine Facilities Map (Map 10).
• Transformer and Utility Lines
Because the Operator plans to utilize electric powered underground
mining machines, a power line will be located in the permit area to
supply electricity. Power poles will be designed and constructed
to minimize electrocution hazards to raptors as required by Rule
4.18(4).
There are three power poles within the permit area that require
raptor protection. Two of the poles are equipped with triangular
shaped perch guards on the cross arms. The perch guards keep
raptors from landing on the cross arms near the wires. The third
pole has a perch installed above the top of the pole. The perch is
located five to six feet above the phase wires so a raptor that
uses the perch will not come in contact with the wires.
Power lines will also be constructed in compliance with approved
and recognized guidelines for the safety of mine employees and the
public.
Power brought in from an existing utility line north of the permit
area will be run through a transformer station as shown on the Mine
Facilities Map (Map 10).
u
2.05-19 Rev. 01-31-94
