Rule 2: Permits
• representative samples were collected from multiple truck loads and combined to form a
representative gross sample. Similarly, base material was collected to a depth of one foot or
to the depth of rocky debris from several locations within the sample area and then combined
to form a gross sample. Sampling locations were selected to provide a gross sample
representative of approximately five acres maximum. ~uhtrc sampling will be conducted in a
similar manner.
All sample analysis to-date was completed by Servi-tech Laboratories. Criteria for
determining soil suitability are presented by Table 2.05.4-Ib Soil Suitability Criteria.
Recent analytical data is presented by Table 2.05.4-1c Soil Sample Analysis Averaged by
Location and Table 2.05.4-1d SubsoiUBase Material Analysis Averaged by Location.
Recommendations for soil enhancements have been provided by Servi-tech Laboratories and
are summarized in Table 2.05.3-1e Fertilfier Recommendations. As additional samples
aze collected, the above tables will be updated and incorporated with the next annual
reclamation report.
•
n
U
Table 2.05.4-1b SoiUSubsoil Suitabili Criteria
Anal sis/Ran e Low Acceptable High
pH 5.5-8.5
Conductivity (mmho/cm) <4.0
SAR <] 0
Phos horns m 0-3 4-11 >12
Potassium ( m) 0-30 31-90 >90
Zinc m) <1 >1
Iron m 0-3 >3
Man anese (p m) <0.5 >5
Copper (p~m) <0.1 >2
All material placed as soil will fall within the acceptable range [or soil suitability. With
appropriate augmentation, and after consultation and approval of the Division, other material
may be used on a limited case by case basis. If preliminary soil sampling indicates that a
portion of an area may lie within the caution range, then the area will he resampled on a
denser sampling pattern to define the lateral extent of the problem. Suitable additional soil
material will then be placed on the area of concern, and the area resampled. Alternatively,
with Division approval, the seed mix may be modified to contain plants tolerant of the
parameter of concern.
TOPSOIL BORROW AREAS
Three areas have been selected to serve as sail borrow areas to make up for a soil deficiency.
These areas are designated as BA-1, BA-2 and BA-3. Their locations are indicated on Map
2.05.3-6 Top Soil Borrow Areas. Eight inches of soil will be stripped from the borrow areas
and stored adjacent to the soil recovery area. 'I his material will be respread over the borrow
disturbance upon completion of soil recovery activities. Remaining soil material will be
transported to areas deficient in soil material.
TR-13 2.05-56 Revised 12/8/04)
