TECHNICAL MEMORANDUM
To: Bill Lyle
Date: January 3, 2004
Page S
~ with the type of response pertinent to this evaluation. The final set of wells included in
' this evaluation was (in increasing depth): 87-86, 87-13, 87-9, D87-24, and D87-2S.
Table 2 presents the water chemistry for the ground water wells listed in Table 1. The
water quality data were summazized from information presented in the original mine
permit application. The ground water well chemistry is reported in a sequence of
increasing depth (or decreasing borehole bottom elevation). The depth-profile chemistry
shown in the data of Table 2 are consistent with the typical geochemical signature of a
mineralized azea.
Table 2 Selected Pre-Mining Ground Water Chemistry (all concentrations in
units of mg/L)

!J

Date TDS Fluoride Sulfate Manganese Iron
D87-86
(8,740 amsl)
li/1S/1987 ]100 2.8 840 8 O.S9
]/13/]988 ]100 4.6 590 7 33
4/13/L988 1200 4.7 630 7.3 3.9
8/19/]988 1100 4.4 830 7.4 3.4
6/21/1988 ] 200 4.6 880 7.1 2. ]
8/19/1988 1100 4.8 870 6.4 3.1
1 ]/1/1988 ]200 3.7 490 3 3.1
1/20/1989 910 3.1 380 4.] 1.7
4/11/1989 970 2.9 400 S.S 3.9
7/13/1989 1200 2.5 600 5 6.S
8/8/1989 - - - 4.7 4.8
10/9/1989 1200 2.8 620.0 4.6 6
1/9/]990 - - 290.0 4.7 4S
4/10/1990 1300 3.7 SS0.0 3.9 4.1
87-13
(8,607 amsl)
11/15/1987 270 1.9 39 0.008 0.0]
1/13/!988 280 1.6 49 0.038 0.01
4/13/1988 280 1.8 53 0,061 0.0]
8/19/1988 210 1.6 54 0.057 0.01
6/2]/1988 360 1,9 S] 0.049 0.01
8!19/1988 260 2 S4 0.081 0.01
11/1/1988 320 1.7 74 0.034 0.01
1/20/1989 290 1.7 7] O.OSS 0.01
4/11/1989 310 - 69 O.Ol3 -
S/10/1989 330 ].7 70 0.11 -
7/13/1989 290 - 86 0.088 -
8/8/1989 320 - 72 0.038 0.01
1/10/1990 - - 74 0.008 0.01
p:y,.uhcrd212~nexmanKsanlutsryun(mi4r-I6xrrglnMremine xesrpir Aoo
