LLC - NOI CX-2005-223-06
Request for Alternative Borehole Beeline Procedure.
Deaz Mr. Burnell:
The following information is intended to provide a request for an alternative borehole sealing procedure.
OMLLC has drilled the three western boreholes ECM-OS-39, ECM-05-44 and ECM-05-45 approved in
the NOI and found a "bum" area or oxidized zone in the vicinity of the target D seam coal. OMLLC has
also proposed to drill, four (4) additional approximate 45 degree angle boreholes to determine if there is
unburned coal located east of each present borehole. One such angle borehole is proposed for the north
(ECM-05-45) site and south (ECM-05-39) site and two such boreholes are proposed for the ECM-05-44
site.
PROPOSED BOREHOLE SEALING PROCEDURE
CDMG Rule 4.07,3 (1) provides for the approval by the Division of the sealing of a borehole with a
surface plug only. As noted above, so far the subject boreholes have encountered "bum" and oxidized
coal. The boreholes are located updip of potential mining azeas and "neaz" coal outcrop azeas. As such,
the boreholes did not encounter any groundwater. Because of the physical conditions found associated
with these boreholes, OMLLC proposes to seal the boreholes associated with these three pads with a 10
__ foot concrete surface plug only. ,~
Please contact me at 970-929-5806 if you have questions.
Sincerely,
J es A.
