<br />absinact <br />Grand River Institute conducted a Class I (files search) cultural resource inventory of <br />approximately ;30 acres within the Sanborn Creek Mine's potential subsidence impact area <br />and a Class III (intensive) inventory of aten-acre plot for a proposed drill hole for Oxbow <br />Carbon and Minerals (as represented by J.C. Stover and associates). files searches were <br />completed Ihmugh the Ollicc of Archaa~logy and I listory Preservation of the Colorado <br />1 listorical society and The Uncompahgre Resource Area OtTice of the 13urcau of Land <br />Management. Field work Fur the ten-acre plot was performed during the last week of August <br />1996. The area of direct impact will include about one acre for the drill hole locations. The <br />impact to the area due to subsidence is likely to be undetectable. No significant cultural <br />resources were identified by the either the files search or the intensive inventory. <br />• <br />• ii <br />
