i•
•
mixes for rapid ground cover. Hydroseeded areas were seeded at double
the listed rate for drill seeding.
gallons of water per acre. Drill seeding was done on slopes accessible
with drill seeding equipment. On these reduced slopes, straw mulching
and tackifying was done at the same rates as the steep slopes. The
permanent seed mix was used on the refuse piles and borrow areas
where no further access would be needed. In borrow areas and topsoil
stockpiles where further access will be needed, the temporary seed mix
was used. Approximately 5 pounds per acre of oats was added to these
Reclamation of CRDA-2 was completed in 2002. The sediment retained
by the drop structures in Coal Canyon was harvested for cover material.
Material excavated during construction of the upper diversion ditch was
also used as cover material. A small amount of cover material was
obtained from CBA-1. Topsoil was obtained from Topsoil Stockpiles 2, 7,
8 and 9. Reclamation of CRDA-1 was also completed in 2002 except for
leaving the road to CRDA-1 open to accept coal and refuse material from
other ongoing reclamation activities. This road is within the coal mine
waste disposal area therefore it is not a DMG regulated road. The road
begins at the west end of Haul Road No. 5 and extends to the top of
CRDA-1.
Final reclamation of disturbance associated with the South Lease
Exploration Plan was done in 1985-1987. Reclamation of the North
Decline area was started during the summer of 1991 and completed in the
spring of 1993. Refer to Exhibit CMC Mining Inc, January 20, 1976 for
topography and Exhibits 12C and 28 for North Decline PostMining
topography. An area of 18.3 acres which included the North Decline, the
water treatment ponds and the storage area was regraded in the spring of
1982 and seeded that fall. The Al substation, a powerline between A and
Ai substations and the water treatment building at the North Decline were
removed during the spring of 1993 and minor regrading and seeding was
performed. _
Upon demonstration that disturbed area sediment controls are no longer
necessary at the North Decline, additional reclamation work will include
backfilling and grading the two small area exemption sediment traps,
reclamation of Pond 7, and installing berm breaks along the permanent
channel at appropriate locations to allow reclaimed area drainage to enter
the channel.
• 14-3 (Rev. 12/02)
