~~
Success criteria for each sampling parameter is defined below:
•
• Total Vegetation Cover -The reclaimed area population
mean is not less than 90% of the reference area sample
mean at the 90% confidence level.
• Herbaceous Production -The reclaimed area population
mean in not less than 90 % of the reference area sample
mean at a 90% confidence level.
• Woody Ptant Density -The reclaimed area population
mean is not less than 800 stems per acre.
If the parameter sample mean for the bond release is equal to or
greater than 90 percent of the reference area value, revegetation
is considered successful for the parameter. If the parameter
sample mean for the bond release area is less than 90 percent of
• the reference area value, one sample T-test will be employed.
The one sample T-test is as follows:

Where: t~ =Minimum number of samples required
~ = 90% of reference area value
x =Sample mean for bond release area
Sx =Standard error of the mean (S/n)
S =Sample standard deviation
n =Sample size
If t° is less than or equal to the 1-tailed t-table value for alpha error
probability of .10 at the appropriate degrees of freedom, then
revegetation is deemed successful for the parameter tested.
14-23 (Rev. 12/16/96)
