• Roadside North Portal
r1
\J
Final contours for the Roadside North Portal area are shown on Exhibit
8C. Cross-sections representing the existing and final grade are shown on
Exhibit 27. These final contours closely resemble the original contours,
see Exhibit 8D for the pre-mining contours. During 2002 this area was
regraded to approximate original contour. Backfill material came from
areas filled near Coal Creek and around the stockpile area. There was no
coal remaining in the stockpile. Dirt and rock placed in the decline was
spread in approximately 2-4' lifts in such a way as to minimize voids in the
fill. There was no specific compaction requirements. Lifts were basically
spread in horizontal layers and hauling equipment was routed over the fill
to provide compaction. The small amount of settling that will take place
with this fill technique will have little affect on the final contours and
drainage. Concrete and other material left after demolition of the facilities
was placed in the fill material. Topsoil piles 1 and 3 were distributed over
the regraded site.
The sediment pond and silt fence shown on Exhibit SC are utilized for
sediment control at the North portal. The pond and silt fence will remain
in place until their removal is approved by the DMG. At that time, the
pond will be backfilled, the silt fence removed and the berms rounded or
removed. The upper diversion ditch will be reclaimed after the sediment
pond is removed and the ditches shown on Exhibit SC will be installed to
accommodate storm runoff from the primary drainage chutes originating
on the steep slopes above the disturbed area. The design of the ditches
is presented in Appendix 14-6. The ditches will be constructed at least 3-
years before final Phase 3 bond release at the North Portal.
Cameo Refuse Disposal Area.Nos. 1, 2 and 3
Reclamation of the remaining benches and the top of the Cameo Refuse
Disposal Areas (CRDA) was performed as discussed in section (a) of this
Tab Section. The final contours for these sites are shown on Exhibit 9C,
this section and Exhibits 51, 52 and 60 located in Tab Section 13. Cross-
sections representing the existing and final grade are shown on Exhibits
18 and 53, Tab Section 13. These contours reflect a design final
configuration rather than AOC. Design for the slopes and benches is
given in Tab Section 13 along with Exhibits 18 and 51 through 53 and 60.
• 14-10 (Rev.12/02 )
