The information had been requested by the Division at the conclusion of
the October 26, 2004 joint field inspection of the sediment ponds at the Bowie No. 2 Mine.
Your agency's concerns have been noted and the Division is working with Bowie Resources LLC (BRL)
to resolve these issues. Since receipt of your letter, the Division has met with BRL officials on two field
inspections, one on November 18, 2004 and again on December 7, 2004; as well as communicated by
telephone to discuss the issues.
However, because there have not been any formal presentations to the Division by BRL, no specifics are
available at this time to include with this letter. Please be advised that as soon as BRL formulates a specific
plan of action, your agency will be brought up to date.
If you have any questions or need additional information, please call me.
Sincerely,
sep J. ash
Environmental Protection Specialist
cc: William Bear (Bowie Resources LLC)
Jim Stover P.E.
