The parameters
exceeded and date of the exceedence are listed by outfall number below.
Outfall
No.
Parameter(s) Exceeded
Date(s) Exceeded
001 A Total Suspended Solids (30 Day Ave. & Daily Max.) 4/30/99
002 A Total Suspended Solids (30 Day Ave. & Dai]y Max.) 4/30/99
Total Iron (30 Day Ave. & Daily Max.) 4/30/99
004 A Total Suspended Solids (30 Day Ave. & Daily Max.) 4/30/99
The cause of the exceeded permit limitations for all of the above outfalls was due to heavy
precipitation. Rain persisted for 4 days, from 4128/99 through 5/1/99. On 4/29/99, the amount of rain
exceeded both the ]0 year, 24 hour event (2.8") and the 25 year, 24 hour event (3.4"). Documentation
of the precipitation events are provided on the attached copy of Energy Fuels' Rainfall Record Book.
The dischazge samples were obtained as water flowed from the emergency spillways of the sediment
ponds. Energy Fuels is not proposing any corrective action that could mitigate discharge quality
during such an unusual storm event.
