Mine in <br />Adams County; Clarification of Items ~n <br />Dear Larry: <br />On behalf of Aggregate Industries-WCR, Inc, we are writing to provide clarification on <br />two issues raised at the MLR13 Hearing held on January 19`h; the plan for mining Phase <br />2A, and the plan for Till placement in the West Fill Area. <br />Mining Plan for Phase 2A: <br />The intent for mining this 27± acre area is unchanged from the current permit, <br />Amendment M-91-140. This permit refers to this 27± acres as the "Expansion No. 1 <br />area/Phase 3". Exhibit D-1 of the Mining Plan for Amendment M-91-140 states: <br />"The Expansion No. 1 area is designated as Phase 3, is 27± acres in size, and would be <br />completely mined, except for required setback areas. Mining setbacks will 6e 15' except <br />where there are substantial man-made structures within 100'. This restriction is <br />applicable to the Kent house on the property to the west of the Expansion No. 1 area, artd <br />the gas well, the gas pipeline from the gas well, and the access road to the gas weft. In <br />these areas, no mining wild occur without agreement of the owner of the structure, unless <br />the DMG staff has approved a Slope Stability Rnalysis with a lesser proposed setback. <br />7'he Expansion No. 1 area will not he sealed within the slurry wall, but some of this area <br />will be temporarily de-watered and dry-mined. A water recharge pond will fie utilized to <br />minimize impact to ofj--site alluvial wells. The area will be buckftlled with overburden, <br />sand spoils, as a discharge pond from the plant, and with silt material from the presend <br />discharge pond within the Existing Permit area. The after use will he an unsealed lake <br />and wetlands area a maximum of 21± acres in size with 5± acres of slope and setback <br />areas. Final reclamation of this area will be wildlife hahdtat. " <br />"Mining Teehniyues.....Mining of Phase Swill first involve up to 10~- acres, which is <br />designated as Phase 3~! on Exhibit C-J Pre-Mining/Mining Plan Map.
