Western Fuels-Colorado, LLC
Third Park Prospective Coal
Resource Area
ARCADIS Exploratory Cores
Class tll Cultural Resource
Inventory
reduction. All of the debitage is the same lithic material, and the scatter covers
an area of about 10 meters by 4 meters. This isolated find is in a setting similar
to that of 5MN8085, but it is at least 150 meters from the nearest ephemeral
drainage. There are no diagnostic artifacts, formal tools, or cultural features
associated with either of these isolated finds.
The recorded location of known site 5MN7765 (Andrews and Lindland 2005) is
approximately 100 meters from one of the proposed core holes. This site was
recorded as a prehistoric lithic scatter consisting of about 15 flakes, a scraper,
a projectile point fragment, and a sandstone maul. The site is in a sparsely
vegetated sandy area on a broad ridge. The site has been evaluated as not
eligible for the NRHP and is at least 30 meters from any of the identified project
elements.
Evaluation and Recommendations
The project, as marked at the time of cultural resource inventory, does not
contain any eligible or unevaluated cultural resources. The project area also
does not include any areas of Holocene deposits in settings that are likely to
contain undiscovered cultural resources. The project as surveyed will not
adversely impact any historic properties.
References Cited
Andrews, B., and T. Lindland. 2005. 5MN7765.
