salt or alkali, internal drainage, surface drainage and
vegetation.
1.4.5 Series Descriptions
The soil series and series variant descriptions are
site specific to the Storm King Mine permit area. The
descriptions present the taxonomic classification,
physiographic setting, physical and chemical characteristics,
location,.range of observations, and topsoil suitability
of each soil type. Series descriptions were obtained from
each sampled soil profile and have been correlated with their
respective laboratory results. These descriptions provide
the fundamental technical information for each soil type.
They are also the basic reference for a detailed description
of each mapping unit.
