RECLAMATION PLAN AND TIMETABLE EXHIBIT D <br />1. General Reclamation Pian <br />The overall goal of the reclamation is to produce a much better environmental condition than that <br />which currently exists. The lake, fringe wetlands and wetland shelf that will be created will be a <br />positive improvement for waterfowl and other animals. The post-mining land use is wildlife habitat <br />and recreation for the landowner. The dryland above the lake will be restored to rangeland with a <br />better soil thickness than that which currently exists. Considerable time has been spent in develop- <br />ing seed mixes for the dryland and wetland areas to provide maximum benefit to wildlife. <br />At the end of the 4 year mining period, topsoil from the stockpile will be replaced on the plant area <br />to a greater depth than that of the original soil. The original depth was 3-4 inches; the reclamation <br />depth from 5' below water level and above is expected to be 6 to 9 inches. Al] final slopes will be <br />3H:1 V or milder. If mining in year 3 can produce 140,000 tons of which 70,000 tons can be stock- <br />piled and 70,000 tons can be moved to the River $ottom Pit site, then the reclamation can be done <br />in the latter part of year 3. The bridge could also be removed at that time. <br />To mitigate the wetlands described in the Vegetation section in the depression area, a shelf wetland <br />of 0.40 acres will be constructed on the north side of the lake. This shelf will be 1' higher than the <br />expected equilibrium water level, will have at least 6" of topsoil and will be seeded with a special <br />wetland mix as described later in this section. To mitigate Southwest Willow Flycatcher habitat, 10 <br />clumps of 10 willow cuttings will be planted in the shelf wetland. This is in addition to the wetland <br />seed mix for the entire wetland. The two willow wetlands disturbed by the truck ramps (0.08 acres) <br />will be restored in their original locations to the same function and value. The existing fringe wet- <br />land along the pond located on the property will be replaced by a fringe wetland along the new <br />lake. The old fringe on the pond is approximately 776' x 4' = 0.07 acres. In order to mitigate the <br />loss of this wetland, a fringe along the lake of at ]east 4' width around the lake will be seeded for <br />wetlands. This area is 2400' perimeter x 4' = 0.22 acres. <br />North Fork Pit March 04 31 <br />
