The details of the SCS Tractive force design procedures aze presented in Appendix B -North Fork
of the Gunnison River data.
Results show that boulders aze stable for the cases of the wall and the bottom, however, since the
water in a large flood will hit the wall at an angle of between 60 to 90 degrees, scour of the em-
bankment earth under the large rock is a concern In order to address this, the existing rock or con-
crete slabs will be imbedded in the bank for depth of at least 3 feet and the large boulders will be
placed on top of this rock. If the existing rock is not of sufficient size (at least 3 ft diameter) ,then
additional rock must be imported for this bedding layer.
