[dE, THE UtdDERSIGNED, being property owners and/or residents in the County
of La Plata, State of Colorado, oppose the approval of the pr posed 4Tillow
Bend Sand Pit (Planning Action No. 8b-210). '
1. The proposed commercial/industrial use is inconsiat nt with the
predominantly rural/residential character of the neighborhood.
2. La Plata County has conceded its inability to regulate expansions of
use on the same parcel, as shown by its recent refusal to addre s the commer-
cial use of the glider port by Laverne St. Clair.
3. La Plata County would be powerless to control the exp sion of this
use once established. The Mined Land Reclama*_ion Board permit a placation for
this ptt bas a maximum allowable extraction rate of 70,000 t ns per Year,
which would have a devastating impact upon surrounding propertie .
4. The proposed use would be incompatible with the sur ounding land
uses and would devalue the properties adjacent.
L'HEREFORE, we petition the Board of County Commissioners to disapprove
Project No. 86-210.
