PETITION IN OPPOSITION TO THE <br />47ILL0[I BEND SAND PIT <br />[dE, THE Uf•IDERSIGNED, being property owners and/or <br />of La Plata, State of Colorado, oppose the approval <br />Bend Sand Pit (Planning Action No. 86-210). <br />reside is in the County <br />of the proposed [iillow <br />1. The proposed commercial/industrial use is inconsistent with the <br />predominantly rural/residential characr_er of the neighborhood, <br />?. La Plata County has conceded its tnability to regul to expansions of <br />use on the same parcel, as shown by its recent refusal to ad ress the commer- <br />cial use of the glider port by Laverne St. Clair. <br />3. La Plata County would be powerless to control the xpansion of this <br />use once established. The Mined Land Reclamation Board permi application for <br />this pit has a maximum allowable extraction rate of 70,00 tons per year, <br />which would have a devastating impact upon surrounding proper ies. <br />4.
