• parameters for SEDCAD are shown in Attachment t, Tab 13. The section properties of the
trapezoidal channel are shown in Attachment C.
The reclaimed drainage channels will be topsoiled and revegetated according to Tabs 21 and 22,
respectively.
Peabody does not anticipate any problems with slides at Nucla Mine during the term of mining
and reclamation activities. Current highwalls at Areas No. 1 and 4 have been standing since the
mine went into temporary cessation in 1983 and have been shown to be stable.
It is necessary that surface coal mining activities be performed immediately adjacent to public
roads. Presently, a highwall and open pit exist at the fenceline of the north-south County Road
2650, County Road 124 in front of the former shop area and the east-west temporary county
road north of Area No. 1. In order to reclaim these mining areas and pits, mining activities will
need to be performed adjacent to these roads. Peabody intends to close portions of these roads
to public access when blasting or any other operations which could create a potential safety
hazard occur adjacent to these areas. If a slide should occur that could have a potential adverse
• effect on public properly, health, safety or the environment, Peabody will notify the CMLRD by
the fastest available means and comply with remedial measures as approved by the CMLRD.
•
20-5
