Dear Mr. Schreiner:
On May 21, 1993 you conducted a field inspection of our gravel pit
to verify compliance with the mine plan. In your report you noted
(2) two areas of concern as follows:
A.) Various field problems, detailed below
B.) Updating the existing permit to meet the requirements of
Rule 2. You requested that we submit a technical
revision.
You allowed us (60) sixty days to comply with both concerns.
Due to a heavy work schedule we have been unable to comply with all
the requests. The following is a list of the field problems and
action taken, if any:
Identification of the affected area by use of monuments. This
work is completed.
Removal of sand stockpiled within 50 feet of the creek; this
work has been done. Regrading of approximately 200 feet of
streambank: this work is approximately one-half completed (see
photographs enclosed herewith). Our plan for long-term
stabilization is to place cobble stones from the toe of the
bank to a height of two feet followed with local willows and
trees to the top of the bank.
Remove broken concrete containing rebar from the creek. This
work has not yet been completed. Our plan is to remove all
the concrete and replace it with cobble and vegetation as
described above.
None of the permitting problems have yet been worked on.
We respectfully request that you allow us an additional 60 days to
complete all the requirements detailed in your report.
