Mining will not intercept any al Luvial valley floor areas. Lands satisfying the • <br />9eomor ph is end flood or subirrigation criteria of alluvial valley floors do exist adjacent <br />to and downstream of the Yoast mining operation. Those in hydraulic communication with <br />the mine ere the one suloi rrigated field in Section 18, TSN, R87H and one historically <br />flood irrigated field in Section :i0, T6N, R87H in the Sage Creek drainage. Any others <br />noted on Exhibit 16-3 receive their water from other sources, a re above mining, are <br />undeveloped rangeland, or are too distal from the mine to be of Concern. Based on 1991 - <br />1993 flow monitoring date, the historically flood irrigated field in Section 30 would not <br />have suffic tent water available for irrigating 10 or more acres for a majority of each <br />irrigation season. <br />The Yoast mining end reclamation plans as proposed will minimize disturbances to the <br />hydrologie balance by preserving the essential hydrologic functions of the AVF's adjacent <br />to the mining and reclamation operations. That is, the mining and reclamation operations <br />will not interfere or impede the valley floor area's ability to collect, store, and <br />regulate the natural flow of surface and ground water. If anything, the quantities of <br />water available to the alluvial ground water and surface water systems has the potential <br />to be increased following mining. <br />• <br />The quality of the ground water and surface water supplying the AVF's will not be impacted <br />to such an extent that the water uses (subirrigation end stork water) are precluded or so <br />severely degraded in comparison to background levels that material damage occurs. The <br />detailed discussion end analysis in Tab 17, Impact of Spoil Hater Quality on Ground end <br />Surface Hater Quality, substantiates the above statement. The greatest magnitude of <br />change in salt levels projected in the Sage Creek alluvial aquifer is only 0.1 percent. <br />finally, a monitoring program (described in Tab 15, Hydrologic Monitoring Program) will be <br />in place during the mining end reclamation periods to measure the .changes occurring and <br />allow adjustments to be made should changes deviate markedly from the computations and <br />analyses presented in Tab 17, Impact of Spoil Hater Quality on Ground and Surface Hater <br />guelity. Key monitors that will be used for ensuring protection to the AVF's are YAAl14, <br />YGAL15, YGAL16, YSAL12, YSAL3, YSSF3, YSSF2, HSS F3, YSS2, YSGFS, and, NPDE510. <br /> <br />16-3-b Revised 06/19/95 <br />
