July 1993 -10- 923-2515 •
The narrow reach of Grassy Creek between the landslide and the northern boundary of sec. 34,
T. 6 N., R. 87 W. has been mappe<t as undifferentiated valley fill with the exception of the
small azea (less than 5 acres) of alluvium adjacent to and downstream from the landslide that has
been mapped as alluvium. :Immediately south of the northern section line of sec. 34, T. 6 N.,
R. 87 W. is an broad flat ;u'ea of approximately 25 acres that has been mapped as alluvium
(Figure 1). Adjacent to this area is an area mapped as recent anihropogenic fill. Downstream
from the azea of fill to the confluence with the unnamed drainage in the SW'/. sec. 28, T. 6 N.,
R. 87 W., is an area that has been mapped as undifferentiated valley fill covering approximately
15 acres.
The area of less than 15 acres in the vicinity of the confluence of Grassy Creek and Scotchman's
Gulch in the SE'/. sec 28, T. 6 N., R. 87 W., has been mapped as alluvium. This is a broad,
flat area exhibiting a sharp break in slope with the adjacent sideslopes. The channel throughout •
this section meanders considerably.
Downstream from the confluence of Scotchman's Gulch and Grassy Creek (Figure 1) is a reach
of Grassy Creek that has been mapped as undifferentiated valley fill covering an area of
approximately 20 acres. This is a narrow section of channel where sideslopes and valley floor
are not easily distinguished. Two alluvial fans have been mapped in this reach of Grassy Creek.
Downstream from this reach of Grassy Creek to the confluence with the Yampa River aze two
azeas of alluvium covering approximately 50 acres. Where the valley narrows in two reaches
of this portion of the drainage (sec. 16, T. 6 N., R. 87 W.), colluvium is not easily
distinguished from alluvial deposits. These two sections covering less than 10 acres have been
mapped as undifferentiated valley fill. Two azeas of undifferentiated valley fill covering less
than 5 acres have also been mapped in the tributary to Grassy Creek at the boundary between
sections 21 and 28, T. 6 N., R. 87 W. and the tributary located in the eastern half sec. 21, T.
6 N., R. 87 W.
•
Golder Associates
