Dear A1;
(1) Colorado Westmoreland, Inc. desires to construct several
new surface facilities, namely a truck scale, extension to
the present railroad spur and a 500,000 gallon water storage
• tank.. Per the Colorado Regulations for Coal Mining, CWI needs
a letter of SCS stating whether any or all of the aforementioned
facilities will be constructed on prime farmland as they are
presently Iccated. See attached naps.
(2) CWI currently has a well field is Stevens Gulch located
on a potential Alluvial Valley Floor (AVF). Stevens Gulc'r.
is an ephemeral stream which flows in Aoril, :•iay and sometimes
June depending on precipitation.
Ore of the criteria for an AVF is :whether an area has been
historically flood irrigated or the potenti_1 exists.
In the Stea.^tboat Snrinas area some ephemeral streams are nonded
during months of flow and then used to irritate throuchout the
~ su.~nmer.
